उत्तर: कवि आत्मकथ्य लिखने से इसलिए बचना चाहते है क्योंकि उन्हें ऐसा नहीं लगता कि उनके जीवन में कोई आंनदित घटना हुई है जिसे वे लोगों को बता सकें। उन्हें लगता है कि उनका जीवन केवल कष्टों से भरा हुआ है अतः वे अपने कष्टों को लोगों में बाटना नहीं चाहते तथा उन्हें अपने तक ही सीमित रखना चाहते हैं।


2. आत्मकथा सुनाने के संदर्भ में "अभी समय भी नहीं" कवि ऐसा क्यों कहता है?

उत्तर: 'अभी समय भी नहीं' कवि ने ऐसा इसलिए कहा है क्योंकि कवि को लगता है कि उसने जीवन में अब तक कोई भी ऐसी उपलब्धि हासिल नहीं की है जो दूसरों को बताने योग्य हो तथा उसके जीवन में उसे सुख की प्राप्ति नहीं हुई है। कवि इस समय अपने दुख और पीड़ा को कुछ सीमा तक भूल गया है और उसे याद करके वह दुखी नहीं होना चाहता है।

उत्तर: ‘पाथेय’ अर्थात् रास्ते का भोजन या सहारा। स्मृति को पाथेय बनाने से कवि का आशय अपनी प्रिय की स्मृति के सहारे जीवन जीने से है। कवि की प्रेमिका उससे दूर चली गई है। कवि के पास केवल उसकी ही यादें है। इन्हीं यादों को कवि अपने जीवन का एकमात्र सहारा बनाना चाहता है।

(क) मिला कहाँ वह सुख जिसका मैं स्वप्न देखकर जाग गया।

आलिंगन में आते-आते मुसक्या कर जो भाग गया।

(ख) जिसके अरुण कपोलों की मतवाली सुंदर छाया में।

अनुरागिनी उषा लेती थी निज सुहाग मधुमाया में। 

उत्तर:  (क) उक्त पंक्तियों का भाव यह है कि कवि भी दूसरे लोगों के जैसा सुखमय तथा आनंदरूपी जीवन व्यतीत करना चाहता था पर उसकी सुखमय जीवन की यह अभिलाषा उसकी मात्र एक अपूर्ण इच्छा बनकर ही गई। उसे सुख पाने का अवसर भी मिला पर वह हाथ आते-आते चला गया अर्थात् उसकी पत्नी की मृत्यु हो जाने से वह सुखद जिंदगी अधिक समय तक व्यतीत न कर सका।

(ख) कवि की प्रिय अत्यंत सुंदर थी। उसके कपोल अर्थात गाल इतने लाल, सुंदर और मनोहर थे कि प्रात:कालीन उषा भी अपना सौंदर्य बढ़ाने के लिए लालिमा इन्हीं कपोलों से लिया करती थी। अर्थात् उसकी पत्नी के लाल-लाल गाल सूर्य की लालिमा से भी बढ़कर सुंदर थे।


5. ‘उज्ज्वल गाथा कैसे गाऊँ, मधुर चाँदनी रातों की’ – कथन के माध्यम से कवि क्या कहना चाहता है?

उत्तर: कवि यह कहना चाहता है कि उसने जो अपनी प्रेमिका के साथ चाँदनी रातों में बिताए सुख के क्षण वह उज्ज्वल गाथा की तरह ही पवित्र है जो उसके लिए अब अपने अकेलेपन के जीवन को व्यतीत करने का एकमात्र सहारा बनकर रह गया है। ऐसी स्मृतियों को वह सबके सामने प्रस्तुत कर अपने आप को शर्मिंदा नहीं करना चाहता है। इसलिए कवि स्वयं के जीवन की मधुर स्मृतियों को किसी से बाँटना नहीं चाहता बल्कि अपने तक ही सीमित रखना चाहता है।
